Non-union casting (standard): our published usage ladder applies as listed — e.g. $10,000 USD for one year of global broadcast usage. We handle the talent agreements: every cast member signs our image & performance release before stepping on set, so your usage rights are clean.
Union casting (SAG-AFTRA or equivalent): union contracts set their own per-performer usage minimums that sit outside our ladder — for reference, national cable usage for a single on-camera performer runs $13,500 USD per 52-week cycle under the current SAG-AFTRA commercial contract, and union usage is billed per performer, per category. If your production casts union talent, usage pricing is adjusted to cover those obligations and quoted before booking.

If your team edits the raw footage, The Refinery reserves the right to ask you to remove our name and credit from the final product. Our in-house editing exists for quality control; if an outside edit doesn't meet our standard, we hold a unilateral option to decline being credited on the production. On 72 hours' written notice you agree to comply and remove the credit. Non-compliance may constitute a breach of contract and annul your usage terms.
$3,000 USD covers a one-year regional usage term. $15,000 USD extends it to a ten-year term. Unlimited, outright ownership of the ad is negotiable and quoted per project. Usage is licensed separately from production.
These rates assume non-union casting, with every cast member signing our image & performance release. Cancellation. If you cancel your production, 50% of the total project price is non-refundable.
Reschedules. A production date holds crew, gear, studios, and third-party bookings. Rescheduling can interfere with those planned costs and payments, which can result in surcharges:
How rescheduling costs are billed. Rescheduling costs are not passed through at our cost. Each affected item is re-billed at its listed price — the price shown for that item on this site or on your estimate — plus any conditional overages created by limited availability on the new date, such as peak, premium, or last-minute pricing on properties, vehicles, talent, extras, crew, gear, flights, and lodging. Overages are itemized and confirmed with you in writing before they are billed. This applies at every tier below.
Less than 3 days before the scheduled shoot — any rescheduling costs, billed as above, plus 20% of the total project price.
3 to 30 days before the scheduled shoot — a 10% fee plus any rescheduling costs tied to date-specific bookings such as properties, vehicles, actors, and extras, billed as above.
More than 30 days before the scheduled shoot — no fee. Any rescheduling costs tied to date-specific bookings (properties, vehicles, actors, extras) are still billed as above — at listed price plus any conditional overages. In most scenarios this amounts to nothing, unless the booking is highly specialized or the new date is constrained.
Weather. Conditions on a shoot day are part of production, not a defect in the work. We shoot for the light we get and fix what post can fix — grading, and sky replacement where it helps. No refunds, discounts, credits, or complimentary reshoots are offered for weather-affected content on a day that went ahead. If conditions turn genuinely unsafe for crew, gear, or aerial operations, we make that call and coordinate a replacement date with you. Aerial and drone work carries its own airspace and safe-operating limits, and may be rescheduled or substituted independently while the rest of the production proceeds as planned.
Available on music videos and films only. Instead of paying full cash, trade us a share of the upside and take the same percentage off today — we only win when you win.
On a music video, give 1% of your master and 1% of your publishing for 1% off — up to 30%. The share you give equals the discount you take.
The most you ever trade is 30% of the master and 30% of the publishing. You keep at least 70% of your song, and 100% if you pay full cash.
The trade applies to the production fee only. Travel expenses — flights, hotels — are excluded and never discounted.
Films are quoted by the shooting day, so co-production is negotiated by scope (typically single-digit to ~20% backend). Not offered on social, fashion, resort, aviation, or commercial work. Every project is producer-reviewed; buy-back and full terms are in your co-production agreement.
